اسلام کانظر یۂ اجتہاد: تاریخ ومشروعیت
This article highlights lexical and conventional definition of Ijtih┐d, its semantics and significance in Islam. As one of the most important pillars of Islamic jurisprudence, through this tool solution is sought to those newly occurring unresolved issues which have no direct mention in the Qur’┐n and Sunnah. Muslim scholars can be seen, throughout the history (but a few exceptions) devising solutions to society's problems through the process of ijtih┐d. Today the society is in great need of collective ijtih┐d for removing the static conditions prevalent in certain areas of life. The article also discusses conditions of eligibility for making ijtih┐d.
